What equipment do I need? Do I have to purchase it?

We operate on an open Linux platform and give partners root access. Simply choose your hardware platform based on recommended x86 specifications and install our software.

What speeds can I expect?

For a bond with only DSL connections, you will get almost the full combined speed of each connection. For example, a site with three 6 Mbps down/1 Mbps up DSL lines will be able to download at nearly 18 Mbps and upload at close to 3 Mbps, with compression disabled.

Do you have any WAN optimization features such as data compression?

Yes, we have data compression which can compress data up to 3-5 times. See the performance page for more information and examples. We have many more WAN optimization features in the roadmap.

Does VoIP work over Bonded Internet?

Absolutely. Our product includes quality of service (QoS) features to prioritize VoIP and other interactive applications over bulk traffic. This means that protocols such as SIP/RTP, ICMP, and SSH are sent before non-interactive data such as web, mail, and FTP transfers. This prioritization is performed for both the outbound and inbound connections. Your VoIP traffic benefits from all of the other benefits of bonded internet plus QOS, even over broadband circuits.

When a connection fails, how much downtime will I have?

You will not experience any downtime when a connection fails. To get a clearer picture, view the failover demo video. Bonded Internet detects connection failure within 0.3 seconds and automatically removes the failed line from the bond. Bonded Internet begins using the line again within 0.1 seconds when connectivity is restored.

Will I need to reconfigure every device on my network?

No. Bonded Internet is completely transparent to your network as well as to inbound traffic. You will only need to reconfigure your firewall or router with a new Static IP Address.

Do I need to set up any special DNS entries for incoming traffic?

No. Unlike load balancing solutions, our service requires no complicated DNS configuration. Your firewall is assigned to a public, static IP address. All incoming traffic uses that address regardless of the traffic load or whether any connections in the bond have failed.

Can I add more lines after the initial setup?

Yes, you can add internet connections at any time. If you have multiple lines from a single provider, adding any combination of cable, fixed wireless, or DSL connections from another provider is a great way to increase the reliability of your bonded connection while achieving the bandwidth required by your organization.

How many connections can I bond together?

There is no limit to the number of connections that can be bonded

1. Let's say I have 6 DSL lines with 8Mbps downlink and 768Kbps uplink speed each. After I install your SD WAN, how fast will my internet connection be after WAN aggregation?
Your Software Defined Network (SDN/ SD WAN) will be enabled with total uplink and downlink speed of the 6 DSL lines, i.e. 45Mbps downlink and 4.6Mbps uplink speed. Please see our CLL (Cloud Leased Line) product from the left menu for further details.

2. How many LAN interfaces do you support?

Each unit can be configured with as many or as few as required. In order to provide aggregated internet access to more local devices, plug into the router or switch, including a wireless router for wireless access.

3. What types of addresses do you support?

Each device supports DHCP, PPPoE, Static, USB dongle addresses assigned from your ISP. The unit can be configured appropriately through the web-based management interface. In the case of a static address, the LAN port can be connected to a switch, and devices connected to the switch can be publicly addressed from the internet through their statically assigned IP addresses.

4. Does the device support port forwarding?

Yes; if using DHCP, port forwarding is configurable through the web-based management interface. By default, the device is transparent to your firewall. All devices can be accessed by their public IP address.

5. Is the device designed to be compatible with my existing LAN equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls?

Yes. Any LAN interface simply replaces the Ethernet port on a DSL modem or cable modem in an existing LAN configuration with only one internet access line.

6. Do I need to order anything special from my ISP to use SD-WAN?

No. The device is a stand-alone product that does not require any special software, hardware, or configuration from the ISP(s). All that is required is the acquisition of a standard internet access service, such as provided by MPLS/Dedicated/Leased circuit, DSL, or a cable modem. As an example, for ADSL bonding, The CPE will act as a DSL bonding router without requiring any coordination from your ISP(s).

7. Does the CPE offer DHCP service on the LAN interface?

The DHCP server can be enabled or disabled, or configured to use a certain range which will not conflict with statically configured devices on your LAN.

8. Will I need to reconfigure my existing network to install your SD Network?

No. The CPE supports a ‘pass-through’ installation for which no changes are required to the existing office data network. No changes to firewall settings or IP address re-assignment is required. We have designed it to accommodate existing local office networks which formerly had a single WAN connection to the Internet. The CPE is installed in-line between the legacy WAN modem and the legacy firewall/gateway router. The unit is configured in this case by entering the IP address of the legacy WAN modem and the IP address of the legacy firewall/gateway router through the web-based Management Interface. Additional WAN modems can be plugged in to the device for enhanced performance and reliability on an as-needed basis, and will automatically be available to the legacy data network in the office.

9. What is load balancing router?

Load balancing router is a WAN aggregation router that has WAN link aggregation capabilities. Legacy load balancing routers aggregate at session granularity, where as our Bonded Internet load balancers aggregate at packet granularity and therefore providing better speed, reliability and performance.
